Abstract for An Artist’s Response to “Criticism”

The text and video response introduces examples from my use of ethnography from my Internet-based collection project. This is in conjunction with my response to the essay, The Artist as Ethnographer?,  by American Art Critic and Historian, Hal Foster. Foster’s essay is from the perspective of the art discipline and refers to artists employing ethnography toward contemporary art. An Artist’s Response to “Criticism” text and video is to be considered collectively to support my current investigation with ethnography toward the production of knowledge from “fieldwork”, the use of artist experiences as examples within research, and the time period imposed on projects.
